Sewing Socks with The Wolf and the Tree

Did you know that you can sew socks? I would not have expected that I could sew socks, but when I was invited to join the Blog Tour for The Wolf and The Tree, I was given the pattern for the Adult Going Rogue Socks, and I was excited to give them a try.

It turns out that socks are really fun to make. They are quick and easy to make and you can make them in all kinds of fun fabrics! Or you can make them in plain fabrics, if you like. You can even make them to match the rest of your handmade outfit. The shorter styles don't take much fabric, so they can even be made from large scraps.

I made these two pairs as knee-high socks with cuff bands.

The pattern comes with options for socks at all different lengths. You can make mini crew socks, crew socks, bobby socks, knee high socks or thigh high socks, or even leg warmers. I love that you can customize your taller socks by using both your foot/shoe size and your leg size (measurements are given for calf and thigh width.) There are even separate pattern pieces for petite, regular, and tall. I'm sure I would never have gotten such a good fit buying off the rack in the store.

My fear when making these was that the seam at the toe would be bothersome, but I was happy to find that it really was not.

They were so fun, I even had to make some matching socks for my daughter. Hers were made using the Abby's Trailblazing Socks Pattern, also by The Wolf and The Tree.

And then, I decided to make one more pair in the over-the-knee style. Because why not? They are so fun!

After seeing all of these socks I made, my husband really surprised me by asking for a pair for himself! It turns out this pattern includes men's socks, too! So I guess I'll be making those soon!

Will you be sewing yourself some socks?
